Hello, I’m Abby, the artist behind Studio Seltzer!

My greatest joy in life is working with my hands together with other people.

I began my pottery journey as a little kid who loved to play in mud and create things. My dad took me to my first wheel throwing class when I was nine. But I started my pottery business journey with real intent in 2020, by working as an apprentice to Daniel Bellow, a production potter in Great Barrington, MA, making work, selling at art shows and farmers markets, and teaching pottery lessons. After moving to Madison, WI in December of 2021 I set up a pottery wheel in my apartment so I could continue to make work. Now I work out of my own fully outfitted studio in Madison, WI!

I sell at local farmers markets, art shows, and the Bristol Renaissance Faire. And I teach wheel throwing workshops and hand building workshop to share the joy of playing with mud and making art with others.

In every job I’ve had, from cook to phlebotomist to pottery business owner, I’ve been guided by the desire to bring people together and to evoke joy in the simple things in life. This is the design philosophy behind my products as well: to bring joy and wonder into the everyday. Each piece I sell is hand thrown, hand decorated, and all around handmade by me at my studio in Madison, WI.
